PIDI KOLUKATTAI

1 kg rice flour,dry roasted

300 gm moong dhal,boiled till cooked but firm and drained

700 gm white grated coconut

350 gm brown sugar

100 gm sugar

11/4 tsp fine salt

Hot water

1 tbsp dry ginger powder

2 cardamons,powder

1.    Put all the ingredients except hot boiling water into a mixing bowl.

2.    Sprinkle the hot water at random and rub in the mixture is wet enough to hold

3.    Take some of the prepared dough and press it hard,fingermarks remain.

4.    Place the formed kolukattai on a steamer lined with a wet cloth.

5.    Steam for about ½ hour

 

Note: 1 kg rice flour made 164 kolukattai
