VENDIKAI KOOTU





LADIES FINGER KOOTU

½ cup dhal,pressure cook with 4 cups of water,3 green chilis,2cm ginger(chopped),3 garlic,1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp cumin seeds till the dhal turn soft.

500 gm ladies finger,sliced

1 tomato, chopped

1/3 cup grated coconut, grind into a paste

½ tsp sugar

1 tsp cumin powder

Salt to taste

For tempering

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp ulutham parupu

1 tsp cumis

4 dry chilie,broken into 3

1 big onion,finely sliced

2-3 stalk kari leaves

¼ cup oil

1.    Heat the oil and add in the tempering ingredients and fry till the oinion till it becames light brown.

2.    Add in the ladies finger and fry for 1 mint. Add in the rest of the ingredient and cook till the ladies finger is cook and the gravy is thick. Serve with rice.

Note: You can replace the ladies finger with any other vegetable you like.
