BANANAN STEM KOOTU
500 gm banan stem,cut into small cubes
½ cup dhall, pressure cook till soft with 2 green chilie,4 garlic,2 cm ginger, 1 tsp cumin seeds and 2 cup water.
3 cup water
1 small tomato,chopped
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp sugar
Salt to tast
¾ cup grated coconut,grind into a paste
Tempering ingredient:
2 medium size onion,finely sliced
4 dry chilie,broken
2 stalk curry leafs
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp ulutham paruppu
5-6 tbsp oil
1. Pour the cooked dhall into a pan add the banana stem,tomato and water bring it to a boil.
2. Add in the cumin powder and cumin powder let it simmer. Add in the grind coconut and mix well.
3. In another pan heat the oil and add in the mustard seeds and ulutham paruppu. Add in the sliced onion,dry chillie and curry leafs fry till the onion turn light brown.
4. Pour into the banana stem and mix well add in the salt and sugar cook till a bit thick. Serve with rice.
