MAIDA MURUKU



MAIDA MURUKU

4 cups plain flour

½ cup rice flour

4 tbsp Butter or ghee  

2 tbsp sesame seeds

1 tsp cumin seeds

½ tsp carom seeds

Salt to taste

Water

Oil for deep frying

1.    Heat a steamer pot with water. Line the steamer try with a piece of muslin cloth. Place the plain flour on the muslin cloth cover with another piece of cloth. And steam for about 15 mints.

2.    Remove from the steamer and let it cool. The flour will be a bit hard break it with a rolling pin into powder. Sieve and put in a bowl and add in the rice flour,cumin seeds,carom seeds,salt and sesame seeds.

3.    Add in the butter or ghee to the flour and mix it well. pour water little by little and knead it into a smooth dough.

4.    Grease the inside of the muruku press with oil. Use the star holed plate. Fill the muruku press with some dough and press in circular motion into a piece of baking papers. Heat the oil and carefully drop the muruku into the oil fry in medium heat till it is slightly golden brown.

5.    Remove from the oil and put on some kitchen tissues. Let it cool before storing in a airtight tin.
